Listings for this set describe different contents. The US listing names a bamboo whisk (chasen), bamboo scoop (chashaku), whisk holder and stainless-steel sifter, plus the guide. Other listings for the same set add a handcrafted stoneware bowl of about 5 inches (18 oz), for seven pieces in total. Check the listing you are buying from to confirm whether a bowl is included.
Why this combination is useful
Two pieces in this set do more for the finished cup than their size suggests. The sifter breaks up clumps while the powder is still dry, which is the most reliable fix for gritty matcha. The whisk holder keeps a bamboo whisk’s prongs curved inward as it dries, which extends the life of a part that wears out with use. Many cheaper kits leave both out.
